On Tuesday, April 23, Harmon's grocery stores will donate 5 percent of their gross sales to support the American Cancer Society's local programs for research, education and service.

The Harmon's Fights Cancer Day will feature celebrity baggers, entertainment and food demonstrations, especially emphasizing nutritional food that will reduce cancer risk.Local beauty queens, news anchors, politicians and athletes will be among the celebrity baggers. Entertainment will include face and knee painting, pantomiming and yo-yo tricks. Some stores will feature cosmetic make overs and wardrobe color. Local high school students will demonstrate recipes from the cancer society's cookbook.

The Holy Cross Mobile Mammography Van will be parked at the Bennion store, 5400 South and Redwood Road, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For a fee of $55, women can receive a breast cancer screening. Appointments can be made by calling 350-4000.

In two years, Harmon's has donated $40,000 to the American Cancer Society. For more information, call 322-0431.
