With an increasing demand for lighting on football fields in Granite District, the board of education has set guidelines.
Plans must be approved by the district director of school facilities before work is begun and the funds for the entire project must be on hand, clear of obligations, before projects will be considered.The district's contribution will be limited to $15,000 and not more than two projects a year will be considered, the policy says. If a school has a large unencumbered funds balance, the district may direct that the money come from that source, rather than from the district directly.
Schools with lighted fields must reimburse the district for estimated utility costs. District staff will determine how to assess the costs.
The costs of maintaining, repairing and re-lamping a lighting system will be the responsibility of the school.
