Construction work has begun on a $2 million improvement project on Panguitch streets, which are part of U.S. 89.
A storm-drain system, waterlines, sidewalks, and curbs and gutters are being installed along Main Street and parts of Center Streets, with work under the direction of the Utah Department of Transportation.Utah Power & Light Co. will also replace about 80 percent of the street lights at a cost of $80,000.
Adjacent business owners will pay for sidewalks in the commercial areas. A two-foot area will be left for grass.
The project is expected to be completed in August.
