Utah County Republicans will elect new party leaders during the county convention Saturday.
The convention will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the auditorium at Provo High School, 1125 N. University Ave.Candidates for office are: Lewis Billings, Provo, chairman; Janice Hunter, Springville, vice chairman; Von R. Brockbank, Lehi, and Michael R. Hill, Provo, secretary; and Gary Ashby, Orem, treasurer. Elected candidates will hold office for two years.
In addition to these candidates for office, delegates will hear from Mark Taylor and Bob Holmes, candidates for state party chairman.
Members of the Utah County Republican Central Committee and delegates elected during last year's party caucuses are eligible to vote during the convention.
Lt. Gov. Val Oveson, state party chairman Richard Snelgrove and members of the state Legislature will attend the convention, according to Monteen Gordon, current party chairwoman.
"Utah County has always played a pivotal role in Utah politics, and in 1992 that tradition will continue," Gordon said. "It is important for us as a party to come together at the organizing convention and make sure we put our party on the road to victory for 1992."
