Dean Foods Co., Franklin Park, Ill., has completed the acquisition of the Utah and Nevada fluid milk and ice cream business from Western Dairymen Cooperative Inc., which includes the lease of certain equipment and facilities. WDCI has $80 million in annual sales.

Howard M. Dean, chairman and chief executive officer of Dean Foods, said his company will continue to operate the facilities as Cream o' Weber Dairy. "We are positioned to serve the dairy needs of customers in most of Utah, parts of Idaho and Wyoming and Las Vegas from production facilities in Salt Lake City and Logandale, Nev.," he said.He said the Cream o' Weber brand name enjoys strong regional acceptance and is well-positioned for future growth as part of the Dean family of quality regional brands.

Dean Foods is a diversified food processor and distributor, producing a full line of dairy and other food products, including fluid milk, cottage cheese, ice cream, frozen novelties, frozen yogurt, canned and frozen vegetables, dips, pickles, relishes, salad dressings, powdered coffee creamers and aseptic products.

In the nine months ending Feb. 24, 1991, Dean reported sales of $1.6 billion, an 11 percent increase from the same period a year ago.
