Catherine Rishton Gotchy (Gauthier) died April 11, 1991 at home in Taylorsville.
Born December 21, 1904 in Taylorsville, Salt Lake County, Utah, the daughter of Maida Bennion and David Slater Rishton. She is the second child of a family of seven children. She married Rex "LT" Gotchy (Gauthier) in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June 19, 1930. She was a loving mother and grandmother with great patience, understanding and a caring heart for the unfortunate. She enjoyed good music, especially violin music which she played. She liked reading. She was active in the LDS Church, serving in many capacities; as teacher, MIA worker, Relief Society president, Jr. Sunday School coordinator, Primary, visiting teacher and ward librarian.During her lifetime, she lived in Taylorsville, Utah; Canada; Idaho; Los Angeles and Fresno, California; Oak Creek, Kremnling, Walden and Glenwood Springs, Colorado; Woodruff, Arizona and her last years in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was an office and manufacturing worker before her retirement.
She is survived by her husband; five children, Mrs. W. J. (Marcia) Meister, Jr., Elephant, New Mexico; Mrs. E. Don (Anastasia) Holbrook, Bountiful; Mrs. Floyd G. (Patyra) Astin, Salt Lake City; Rex A. R. Gotchy (Gauthier), Truth or Consequence, New Mexico; and Mrs. Joel (Catherine) Ray, Hooper; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ellis Lyman Rishton, Salt Lake City; sisters, Mary Richston Fry, San Bernardino, California; Ora Rishton Toone, Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Stanley Bennion, David Woodrow and Frank Slater Rishton.
Funeral services will be held in the Taylorsville LDS 37th Ward, 951 West 4800 South, 11 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 1991. Friends may call at MacKay Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, Sunday, 6-8 p.m. and at the ward chapel on Monday, 9:45-10:45 a.m. Burial, Ogden City Cemetery, Ogden.
