Dorothy Marie Farnell, 73, passed away April 10, 1991 at her Murray home.

Born November 17, 1917 in North Adams, Massachusetts to Bernard L. and Mary V. Walsh. She graduated from Bay Path College and moved to Washington D.C. to enter government service. She married Clark W. Hamm in 1938; was divorced in 1951. Married Lt. Col. Reginald Stewart Farnell June 25, 1966 in Arlington, Virginia. She worked in the U.S. Foreign Service and served with embassies in Okinawa, Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, and Jamacia. She served as President of the S.L. Chapter of the League of Utah Writers, State President of the League of Utah Writers, 1984 and 1985, and Utah State President of the Utah Chapter of the National League of American Pen Women, 1988-1989. She was a professional Marionetteer, and a published writer.She is survived by her husband, Reginald, Murray; son, Clark W. Hamm, Jr., Los Angeles, Calif.; daughter, Christine E. Hughes, Salt Lake City; grandchildren, Dana Ewell, and Tina Hughs, Salt Lake City; Mindy Hughes, San Diego, Calif.; Jennifer Hamm and Bobby Hamm, both of Miami, Flor.; great-grandchildren, Heather, Ashlee, Brittany Ewell both of Salt Lake City; sister, Lillian Martin, Fredrick, Maryland; brother, John Walsh, Pittsfield, Mass. Preceded in death by son, Robert B. Hamm; sister; Pat, and brother, Bernard.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 13, 1991, 10 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road. Friends may call Friday, 5-7 p.m. or Saturday, one hour prior to services. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
