THE EVENT

Classes: Art, music and drama students from grades seven through nine.

Number of students: 300 Teacher Janet Loureiro has organized a group of students to produce a medieval fair complete with games, booths, fortunetellers, jesters and drama productions. The school orchestra and madrigal singers will peraform, and the school grounds will be turned into an arena of games. Drama students will present scenes from "Taming of the Shrew" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" in the school foyer.

THE LEARNING

The teacher hopes the students learn: The culture of the medieval period and its influence on the art, music and drama of today. The play excerpts were double-cast in order to give more students a chance to learn to perform.

What happens next: Next year, Loureiro hopes to produce "South Pacific."
