The American Institute of Chemical Engineers has awarded the Brigham Young University student chapter an award of excellence for the sixth consecutive year.

The BYU chapter was among 14 of 150 chapters across the United States to receive the honor "in recognition of outstanding development of chemical engineering students."During the 1989-90 school year, the student chapter held numerous activities and provided opportunities for professional growth.

Under the leadership of president David Larsen and vice president Scott Schwendimann, some of the activities included a career fair and interviewing workshop, fall and spring banquets and a Sub-for-Santa Christmas project.
