The chairman of the Grand County Airport Board was booked Sunday into the Grand County Jail on investigation of felony drug charges.
Grand County sheriff's department deputies said they discovered some 100 marijuana plants in a Moab rental home Sunday afternoon.Shane G. King, 28, of Moab, was booked into the Grand County Jail Sunday on investigation of producing a controlled substance, and possessing a controlled substance with intent to distribute, both second-degree felonies.
King was also booked for investigation of possession of a controlled substance lacking a drug tax stamp, a third-degree felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class B misdemeanor.
The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are possible, Chief Deputy Doug Squire said, adding that King had been released Sunday night on $13,000 bond.
King has been serving on the seven-member Grand County Airport Board since it was formed about a year ago. A private pilot and independent businessman, King served as acting chairman for about six months and was named chairman within the past month.
