R. Lanier Britsch has been named director of the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies at Brigham Young University.

Academic Vice President Stan L. Albrecht and Dean Donovan E. Fleming of the College of Family, Home and Social Sciences jointly announced the appointment, which is effective July 1.Britsch will replace Ray C. Hillam, who has been director for six years and is returning to full-time teaching and research in the political science department.

Britsch, a professor of history specializing in Asian studies, joined the BYU faculty in 1966. He served as vice president for academics at BYU Hawaii from 1986 to 1990.
