Interviewer Barbara Walters has asked thousands of questions in her career but she had trouble answering one about her age at a news conference before a speaking engagement in Baltimore on Sunday.
"I'm 58," she said before rethinking her answer. "I was born in 1931 so I'm 59."Walters doesn't give many interviews herself and when she does, she prefers television to newspapers or magazines.
"I think you've got a fair chance on television even if you're edited," she said. "I think that at least you have a chance of coming off the way you are - good, bad or indifferent. In print interviews, you (the writer) can say, `She said with a smile,' or, `She said with a scowl.' I guess I've been burnt by print interviews so I don't give many."
