Bambi Chugg, a sixth-grade student at Municipal Elementary School, Roy, won the grand prize in Utah's Arbor Day poster contest. She will receive a $100 U.S. Savings Bond from the Utah Association of Nurserymen and Landscape Contractors and her school will receive $1,000 from Anderson Lumber Co.
Bambi also was the northern region winner and the sixth-grade class winner. Central Region winner was Nathan Schilaty, Peruvian Park Elementary, Sandy. He also was the third-grade winner. Southern Region winner was Michael Barton, Lake Powell Elementary.State awards will be presented by Gov. Norm Bangerter during a ceremony April 26, 10 a.m., in Pioneer Trail State Park. Regional ceremonies will be held in Cedar City, Price and Roy. About 190 schools and 79,500 students participated in this year's Arbor Day activities. All registered schools received a tree to plant.
Grade level winners besides Bambi and Nathan are Dylan Nash, Stansbury Park Elementary, first grade; Ryan Judd, Peruvian Park, second; Wade Bishop, Kaysville Elementary, fourth; Cassie Nicholas, North Park Elementary, Tremonton, fifth.
