The University of Utah will hold its 16th Annual Chicano Scholarship awards banquet Thursday, May 2, at 7 p.m. in the Union Building ballroom.

Recipients of the scholarships were judged on their level of community involvement, letters of recommendation, scholarship, and need. Preference is given to Utah residents. The scholarship program has expanded since 1977 from recognizing four students a year with awards of $250 to last year's recognition of 15 students with scholarships of $500.

The fund has benefited students who would be unable to further their education without financial assistance. The banquet costs $15 per person or $8 per student.
