Ralph Frederick Giles, 84, passed away April 6, 1991 in the home he shared with his beloved companion for 61 years.
Born in Heber City, Utah May 13, 1906 to John T. and Sarah Roberts Giles. Married Mina Christensen December 4, 1929 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Worked as hardware department manager for the Heber Mercantile, operator and foreman for Heber Light & Power Company. Received his accountant training from LaSalle University, B.Y.U., U. of U. and Utah State University. He was business manager for Wasatch County School District for 12 years. Civic service included power, library and school boards, City Council and Mayor of Heber City.His service in the LDS Church commenced with a mission to the Western States, Counselor in bishopric and bishop for seven years. He taught priesthood and auxiliary classes for many years and was a well known public religious speaker. Served as Stake Patriarch for 43 years and was a Christ-like example to all he knew and loved. Talents and interests included singing, writing and gardening.
Survived by his wife, Mina and four children: Eileen G. and Bernell Berg, Thousand Oaks, Calif.; John Philip and Jean Giles, Karen G. and Garvin Carlile, Gwen G. and Paul Remund, all of Bountiful; 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Grant Giles, Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and parents.
Funeral services Wednesday, April 10 at 12 Noon at the Heber Stake Center, 150 North 200 West. Friends may call at Olpin Mortuary, 288 No. Main, Tuesday 6-8 P.M. and Wednesday at the stake center from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment in the Heber City Cemetery.
