Defending champion Stefan Edberg and second seed Ivan Lendl advanced in straight-set victories Saturday to the final of the $1 million Suntory Japan Open.

Top-seeded Edberg capitalized on a big serve to battle back from 2-5 down in the first set to beat Michael Chang 7-5, 6-2. Lendl relied on his experience to keep himself out of any real trouble, beating 20-year-old American Jim Courier 6-4, 6-1, in a battle of big hitters.Lendl and Edberg were scheduled to compete for the $137,000 first prize Sunday.

At Amelia Island, Fla., top seed Steffi Graf beat Patty Fendick in straight sets Saturday to reach the final of the Bausch & Lomb Championships.
