Pittsburgh left fielder and 1990 MVP Barry Bonds suffered a bruised left knee and thumb Saturday sliding into the wall in foul territory, but was expected to be sidelined only one game.

Bonds crashed into the Wrigley Field wall chasing Mark Grace's fly ball at the start of the Chicago Cubs' fifth inning. His left leg was tucked under his right but both knees appeared to slam into the brick wall.He left the field under his own power, holding his left knee.

Pirates Manager Jim Leyland said that the left-fielder would miss Sunday's game but could be back in the lineup Monday against New York.
