Lance Clark struck out nine batters and scattered three hits in eight innings to pitch the BYU baseball team to an 8-0 victory over the Air Force Academy in Colorado.

The Cougars scored two runs in the first and two more in the second and Clark cruised from there to provide BYU with its first league victory.Darren Milne went 1 for 2 at the plate, walked twice, and had two RBI's to lead BYU.

BYU came up with two more runs in the seventh and two in the ninth for the final score.

Ryan Hancock came on in relief in the ninth to strike out two and hold Air Force scoreless.

With the win BYU improves to 16-9 overall and 1-4 in the Western Athletic Conference. The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was postponed due to inclement weather.

The teams will be back in action this morning for a scheduled doubleheader. The first game will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will be carried live on KFMY (960 AM).

Early in the season the Cougars started off their season and WAC campaign 0-4 by traveling to Hawaii for a doubleheader. Following that the Cougars traveled to California where they won the Riverside Tournament with relief pitcher Hancock being named the Most Valuable Player.
