Rural older people need better transportation services, the National Council on the Aging said in a statement to a congressional subcommittee.

The NCOA and its National Center on Rural Aging called for changes in the Older Americans Act that would increase funding to counter service changes resulting from deregulation."Studies have documented the necessity for rural agencies, rural hospitals, rural mental health centers and others to spend a large portion" of their funds on transportation, the NCOA said in a statement.
