Funeral services will be Saturday for Alfred Ir-vin "A.I." Tippetts, 98, longtime Utah educator and former state legislator.

Mr. Tippetts died April 9, 1991, in a Salt Lake hospital.Mr. Tippetts retired as a social sciences teacher at Snow College in 1953. He taught in several high schools and was principal of Ephraim High School before joining the Snow College faculty. He also ran a meat and grocery business in Ephraim for several years.

He served in both the Utah House and Senate from Sanpete County.

In 1956 he and his wife, Gwendolyn, helped establish a center for Springville and Mapleton senior citizens, which was one of the first in Utah and served as a pilot program for the Division of Aging. Mr. Tip-petts retired as director of the Springville-Mapleton Senior Citizens when he was 88.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, in the Wheeler Mortuary chapel, 211 E. 200 South, Springville, where friends may call one hour before services. Burial will be in the Ephraim Cemetery.
