Some 13,000 blankets provided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be on a U.S. Defense Department flight to Turkey early next week to aid refugees in the Middle East, according to church officials.

In addition, 80,000 pounds of used clothing, and $100,000 for medical supplies will also be donated by the church's Humanitarian Services Division.The medical supplies will be made available to the United Nations, World Vision and the International Committee of the Red Cross. Refugees on the Turkish, Iranian and southern borders of Iraq, as well as Iraqi hospitals and clinics, will be aided by the donated supplies.
