A homeless Vietnam veteran who barricaded himself inside Fort Vancouver to protest what he called unjust treatment of war vets was arraigned on burglary and malicious mischief charges Tuesday.

Kenneth Donald Rose, 40, originally was arrested Monday on a charge of first-degree burglary. He learned Tuesday during his first appearance in Clark County Superior Court that he will be charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree malicious mischief and a bomb threat.Rose scaled the walls of the fort, first erected in the early 1800s and rebuilt as a national historic landmark, early Monday and remained inside its three-story bastion for nearly seven hours, occasionally detonating black powder from small signal cannons.
