Milwaukee Bucks forward Adrian Dantley became the ninth-leading scorer in NBA history Thursday night, moving ahead of Elgin Baylor.
Dantley entered Milwaukee's game against the Boston Celtics needing three points to overtake Baylor, who scored 23,149 points over his career.The 14-year veteran Dantley nailed a pair of free throws with with 11:44 left in the second quarter to tie Baylor. He then surpassed Baylor with a 20-foot jumper with 10:15 left in the second quarter.
Dantley, who is a seven-time All-Star, is one of four players to wear the Milwaukee uniform that are among the NBA's top ten scorers. Kareem Abdul-Jabaar, Oscar Robertson and Alex English are the other three.
The Bucks signed Dantley, who led the league in scoring in 1981 and 1984, to a contract April 2.
