A kidnapped Swiss industrialist escaped from his abductors in the French Alps, jumping from a moving car and making his way to a police station, authorities said.
Police in the mountainous region around Thonon-les-Bains on Thursday announced the arrest of one of the suspects, who was not identified, and said they were on the trail of the second.Christopher Wassermann, 32, a wealthy businessman from Denens, Switzerland, was abducted from his estate Wednesday night by two armed, hooded men who drove him off in his own black Alfa Romeo. No ransom demands were made.
Wassermann managed to break free of the captors before dawn Thursday. He eluded recapture in the rugged terrain and eventually made his way to a mountain police post.
