The U.S. Ski Team has named Dennis Agee as new director of the team's alpine program.
Agee, of Mammoth Lakes, Calif., "brings U.S. skiing a wealth of background and knowledge of the sport," U.S. Skiing President Howard Peterson said Wednesday."We're looking to him to bring leadership, stability and direction to the program," he added.
Agee was the team's head women's coach 1969-70, senior coach 1970-72 at Mammoth Mountain, and ski school supervisor 1972-73 before taking over as race director in 1973.
He was named director of skiing last year, supervising three ski schools, two race departments and a ski host program.
"My goal is to have the best program possible utilizing the existing staff, and to strongly emphasize development," said Agee, who also has served two years on the U.S. Ski Association Board of Directors.
Agee said he would begin working with team staff in Park City on Friday.
