Utah County Commissioners signed a resolution Monday declaring April as Child Abuse Prevention Month.

In signing the proclamation, commissioners said all county residents should become involved in efforts to reduce child-abuse cases. More than 13,000 child-abuse and neglect cases were reported in Utah in 1990, with 1,911 of them coming from Utah County.The proclamation says the success of child-abuse prevention is dependent on cooperation and coordination of the appropriate resources. The Utah County Child Abuse Council works with public and private organizations in the prevention of child abuse.
