The United States Navy Band's "Sea Chanters" chorus will perform at Southern Utah University on Tuesday, April 23.

The performance will take place at 8 p.m. in the Auditorium theater. Although the concert is free to students and the public, tickets must be obtained at the Student Activities Office in the SUU Student Center.Formed in 1956, the chorus originally was all male and performed mainly songs of the sea. Today, the group has female members, an expanded repertoire and also features the "Fair Winds" vocal quartet which performs madrigals, musical excerpts and jazz and pop favorites.

Master Chief Musician Ronald M. Chiles is the chorus' director as well as the piano accompanist for both the chorus and quartet. Musician First Class Stephen W. Wellman is the group's conductor.

The Sea Chanters have appeared throughout the United States and frequently perform at the White House, the vice president's house and for Washington, D.C., dignitaries.
