Three Utah businesses are coming to the aid of Utah High School athletics.

First Security Bank of Utah, the Utah Dairy Commission and Hardees will donate a combined total of $650,000 to the Utah High School Activities Association over a three-year period. The funds will be used to support all Utah boys' and girls' state championship activities.Plans were disclosed at a press conference Tuesday.

The executive director of the UHSAA, Glen L. Beere, praised the efforts of the sponsors.

"It is a pleasure to welcome these three corporations as our first major sponsors ever, and consider this a fine example of how private enterprise and public education can work together to achief a common worthwhile goal," he said.

Beere added that the donations will support and "in some cases virtually finance the deficit and non-revenue activities."

Since First Security is the major name sponsor, all 500-plus high school sports and activities playoff and championship events will be named the "UHSAA/First Security Bank Championships."
