The Women, Infants and Children food program is accepting new clients.

Interested women should contact the county health department or call the Utah state WIC office toll-free at 1-800-662-3638.The program is aimed at low-income pregnant women, nursing mothers and children up to the age of 5 who are at nutritional risk. WIC enables low-income families to provide their young children with nutritious food they would otherwise be unable to afford.

Statewide WIC serves 41,000 women, children and infants, but the program has funding to allow it to expand to a monthly caseload of 46,000.

Utahns Against Hunger is working with the state WIC office on outreach activities, including distributing a WIC poster statewide to help increase participation. Those who wish to obtain posters can call Utahns Against Hunger at 328-2461 or toll-free 1-800-453-FOOD (3663).
