Brigham Young University's Board of Trustees has approved construction of a new science building next to the Nicholes Chemistry Stores Building on the south perimeter of the campus.

The board also approved renovatng the Eyring Science Center after the new building is finished.Ed Cozzens, assistant administrative vice president, Physical Facilities Division, said the architectural firm of Fowler, Ferguson, Kingston & Ruben of Salt Lake City, has been commissioned to draw final plans in collaboration with Research Facilities Design, an engineering consulting firm in San Diego.

Cozzens said planning for the approximate 150,000-square-foot building will be in process for about one year followed by a two-year construction period.
