Frank Joseph Garbe, age 91, of Manti, died April 4, 1991 at the Utah Valley Medical Center in Provo from complications following surgery.
He was born December 10, 1899 in Salt Lake City to Ferdinand and Martha H. Liebig Garbe. Moved to Manti at the age of seven; where he spent his entire life. He was a superintendant of the local canning factory in Manti and later took on the responsibility of managing the plants in Ephraim, Tremonton and Murray until Hunt Foods closed their canning factories in Utah. He was a past Manti City Councilman for 12 years and past Mayor of Manti for four years. Active member of the LDS Church; where he was Bishop of the Manti South Ward. He and his wife were temple ordinance workers in the Manti LDS Temple for 25 years. He married Blanche Evelyn Mickelson on June 6, 1923 in the Manti LDS Temple. They enjoyed 67 years of married life.Survived by his wife; two sons and one daughter, Hal, Schenectady, New York; Douglas, Orem; Mrs. Mont (Maxine) Shepherd, Ephraim; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Waldo Garbe; one sister, Pearl Anderson, both of Manti.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 8, 1991 at 12 noon in the Manti LDS Stake Center; where friends call on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday one and a half hours prior to services. Interment, Manti City Cemetery. Funeral directors: Buchanan Mortuary.
