James Tanner Brown, 72, died Thursday, April 4, 1991 at a local nursing home of a lung condition.

He was born May 11, 1918 in Cardston Alberta, Canada, a son of Tanner Little and Dorothy Place Brown. He married Leah Hale in 1937. They were later divorced. He married Katherine Cavin on September 21, 1957 in San Diego, California. He had lived in Brigham City, Price and Salt Lake City. He had lived in the Ogden area since 1958. Jim was very unselfish with his time and spent many hours during his life in community service. He was a member of the Amity #23 Corrinne, Utah Masonic Lodge F.&A.M. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army. He had been a manager of retail sales for Mountain Fuel Supply Company, retiring in 1986 following 48 years of service.Surviving are his wife, of Riverdale; one son and one daughter, James T. Brown and wife, Nola, Sparks, Nevada; Patricia B. Norris and husband, Will, Salt Lake City; four grandchildren, Shawna Norris, Erin Norris, Marlo Norris and Tayler J. Brown. Also surviving are two sisters, Doreen Dunlap, Oakland, California; Dorothy Coombs, Salt Lake City

Public Masonic services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Officiating will be the Amity Lodge #23 F.&.A.M. Worshipful Master Dwight McHugh. Family will meet friends at the mortuary Monday from noon to 12:45 p.m. Interment: Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park.
