Verna Marion Ness Betteridge Belcher, age 79, died April 4, 1991 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born January 25, 1912 in Grouse Creek, Utah to James William and Emily Ness Betteridge. Married Everett H. Belcher on May 4, 1936 in Vancouver, Washington; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She attended Lincoln High School and graduated from Granite High School. Worked at the Bell Telephone Co. as an operator. Played the clarinet. She was a Primary president and also served in the MIA and Relief Society. She served a mission with her husband in the Nauvoo, Illinois Mission and was assigned to the Lucy Mack Smith Home, April 1979 to October 1981. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.Survived by husband; nine children, Mrs. Jerry (Jerrie) Lee, Dover, Delaware; Mrs. Jack (Kay) Bollwinkel, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Gary (Holly) Evans, Sandy; Mrs. Ken (Emylee) Patterson, Pocatello, Idano; Vern Belcher and wife Celia, Midvale; Dee Belcher and wife Michelle, West Jordan; David Belcher and wife Cheryl, West Jordan; Mrs. Kevin (Lou Dene) Hunt, Mesa, Arizona; Brad Belcher and wife Kerry, Placerville, California; 50 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; seven sisters and one brother, Alpha Betteridge, Olive Smart, Eileen Betteridge, all of Salt Lake City; Jessie Harbrecht, Muriel Snarr, Norma Draper, all of Murray; Dr. Bryce Betteridge, Tacoma, Washington; June Perry, Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by infant son.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 11 a.m., April 8,1991 at the Cottonwood Creek Stake Center (Union 14th Ward), 1535 E. Creek Road. Friends may call Sunday 5-7 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, and Monday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to the LDS Church Missionary Book of Mormon Fund.
