He was born in Manti, Utah to Christian and Marie Anderson on July 25, 1926. He died at his home in South Jordan on April 2, 1991 after a courageous two year battle with cancer.
He married Eunice Christensen on September 16, 1947; their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. They were later divorced. He married Louise Shields on January 27, 1983; their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River LDS Temple.In high school, he was noted for his talent playing the trumpet in the school band and for his "hook" shot on the basketball team. Kent was a medical technician in the Navy in World War II. He received a BS degree in business from the University of Utah. He was later a manager for J.C. Penny, Fashion Fabrics and for ZCMI.
Kent was active in the LDS Church as a teacher and officer in Sunday School, MIA, Elder's Quorum and the High Priest group. He always had a friendly smile and an outgoing personality, both at school and with his business associates. He liked the outdoors, which was always expressed through his excellent garden. He was always a hard worker and did his best at everything. He was a kind and caring man. Everyone who knew him, liked him. He was loved by many people and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Louise, South Jordan; two sons, Christ Anderson, Eric Anderson (Leanne), of Portland; three daughters, Cherie Mulhausen (Mike), Denver, Colo; Jill Pearce (John), Sandy; Jody Valantine (Matt), St. George; stepson, Ralph Shields (Wendy), West Jordan; and stepdaughter, Debbie Olson of Salt Lake City; 18 grandchildren; brother, Robert Anderson; sisters, Marian Murphy (Neal), Las Vegas, Nev.; Edith Hall (Curly), Denver, Colorado.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 1991, at the South Jordan 3rd Ward, 9750 South 2200 West. Friends may call Friday, 6-8 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, and Saturday, one hour prior to services at the church. Burial, Redwood Memorial Estates Cemetery.
