Gary M. Sandquist, a University of Utah professor, has been named a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering.

Sandquist is director of the U.'s graduate program in nuclear engineering, a fellow of the American Nuclear Society and a registered engineer in three states.The title of fellow is conferred upon a member of the professional society with at least 10 years active engineering practice who has made significant contributions to the field.

The American Society of Mechanical Engineering is a worldwide society with 118,000 members, including 21,000 students.
