A close associate of John Gotti was riddled with bullets outside his Brooklyn home for being a government informer, even though he refused to testify against the reputed Gambino crime boss, authorities said.

Wilfred "Willie Boy" Johnson, a gangster with the letters "L-O-V-E" tattoed on his knuckles, was fatally wounded Monday by assailants armed with automatic weapons.Johnson, 53, was shot numerous times in the back of the head in the attack that took place about 6 a.m. as he walked toward a 1988 Mercury parked near his home in Brooklyn's Flatlands section.
