Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Lorena Marie Archibald Powell, age 74, died April 1, 1991, at the Dixie Regional Medical Center.

Born April 2, 1916 in Plymouth, Utah, a daughter of Amos Ulysses and Hazel denHartog Archibald. Married William Edward Powell, August 29, 1934, in Ogden, Utah.After the death of her mother in 1918, Lorena lived with her father's aunt and uncle, Olivia and Albert Heed. She used their name as she grew up. Her foster brother, Virgil, became her champion, and came to regard her as the daughter he never had. After marrying Lorena lived in Tremonton, until 1937 when they moved to Magna, Utah, where they lived for 40 years. They moved to Granger in 1978.

Lorena graduated from Ogden High School and attended Henager and LDS Business Colleges. She was a member of the LDS Church and taught in Primary, Sunday School and Relief Society, and was assistant quilt making leader. Member of the A.F.E.S. Dinner Club.

Survivors include her husband, Salt Lake City; three daughters, Marian; Mrs. Barbara Sceili, St. George; and Marlene; son-in-law, Barry Sceili, St. George; daughter-in-law, Kay R. Powell, Salt Lake City; 11 grandchildren including Sara and Spencer, both of St. George, who brought her much joy; eight great-grandchildren; brother, John Archibald and his wife, Violet, Macdoel, California. Preceded in death by a son, William R. Powell.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 4, 1991, 1 p.m., Sunnyvale Ward Chapel, 4634 West Harmon Drive, in West Valley City, where friends may call one hour prior to service. Burial: Mountain View Memorial Estates Cemetery, under the direction of Spilsbury-Desert Rose Mortuary of St. George, Utah.
