Richard Walter "Ricky" Thornton, age 13, died March 30, 1991 during a family outing in Grass Valley, Utah.

He was born April 27, 1977 in Murray to Dean Walter and Lecia Ann Fillmore Thornton. He was a student at South Jordan Middle School, where he was involved in baseball and band. He was an excellent horseman and loved to hunt. He was a deacon in the LDS Church and had received his Faith in God Award. He was a member of Troupe 81, Boy Scouts of America, and had received the Order of the Arrow.He is survived by his parents and three sisters, Cynthia, Rachelle, and Natalie, all of South Jordan; his grandparents, Richard and Bonnie Fillmore, Glenwood; Walter "Bud" and LuElla, Thornton, ofMonroe; great-grandmother, Mrs. Edna Fillmore, of Richfield. Preceded in death by grandmother, Charmayne Fillmore; and great-grandparents, Owen Fillmore, William Riley, and Clara Bell Young.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 3, at 10 a.m., in the South Jordan 8th LDS Ward Chapel, 1998 West 11400 South. Friends may call at the Ward Chapel in South Jordan Tuesday evening, from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday after 9 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery at 3 p.m. Funeral directors, Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, in Richfield.
