"The Grand Louvre: Entering a New Century" is an exhibition surveying 800 years of the architecture of the Louvre Museum, Paris, by way of about 150 drawings, models, maps and other documents, and sculpture.

The exhibition has been organized by the American Architectural Foundation and it is on show at the Octagon here through May 21.Over the centuries since 1190, the Louvre has served as a fortress, a palace, a prison and arts academy. When its current renovation is finished in 1993 it will function solely as a museum for the first time in its history - and it will be the world's largest.
