Linda K. Amos, dean of the University of Utah College of Nursing, has been elected chairwoman of the National Advisory Council on Nursing Education.

The council, consisting of 19 members, is appointed by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The group advises the secretary and other government agencies on general regulations and policy matters relating to the administration of the Nurse Education Act.The council is working on development of policy initiatives for the renewal of the act, which deals with construction assistance, nursing special-projects grants, advanced nurse-education grants and nurse-practitioner grants.
