American Kim Zmeskal, behind spectacular performances on the uneven bars and floor exercise, won the all-around title Saturday in the first women's dual gymnastics meet in 14 years between Romania and the United States.

But Romania used a consistent performance from all six of its gymnasts to win the 1991 International Challenge team title against an American team coached by Bela Karolyi, who helped build Romania into a power before his defection to the United States 10 years ago.Romania finished with 197.077 points, more than two-tenths ahead of the U.S. total of 196.868.

"Don't forget they are one of the best teams in the world," said Karolyi. "Our girls moved a little closer to them. Give our girls a little more time and I believe we can catch them."
