A farmer in the southernmost Austrian province of Carinthia has plowed up a bronze pot filled with around 1,000 Roman coins, the Austrian news agency reported Saturday.

The coins were probably minted between 200 and 300 A.D. and under Austrian law the farmer is the sole owner of the find, the news agency APA said.Under Austrian law, 50 percent of the find goes to the finder and 50 percent to the owner. The farmer qualifies on both counts.
