Wanted for child sexual abuse and unlawful flight to avoid confinement.
Roy police officers arrested Lyndal Dale Ritterbush and charged him with incest in 1982. He was convicted and sent to the Utah State Prison, but was paroled in 1984.
Later that year, Ritterbush was arrested by Ogden police officers and charged with sexual abuse of a child. In October of 1984 he was convicted and sentenced to serve 5 years to life at the Point of the Mountain.
While in the minimum security unit at the prison, Ritterbush was assigned to the truck detail. He was assigned to drive to the dairy on April 8, 1985, to pick up a delivery, but he and another inmate did not return. They apparently left the prison vehicle near some barns and escaped by walking through the fields.
The accomplice was later apprehended, but Ritterbush has not been seen since.
Ritterbush is originally from Nebraska, but he has ties in Utah and Idaho. He has worked as a truck driver, a ranch hand, a salesman and a mechanic, according to FBI investigators. Ritterbush also enjoys outdoor activities such as camping, hunting and fishing.
