Secret Service agents found two unloaded .22-caliber pistols in two vehicles trying to enter a secured area before President Bush's departure Friday night, and the drivers were questioned.

No arrests were made, said David Holmes, a spokesman for the Secret Service in Washington. The weapons were found between 6:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. PST as the vehicles were being brought into a secured area at Los Angeles International Airport, White House press secretary Marlin Fitzwater told reporters aboard Air Force One. It was the first time firearms had been found so close to a presidential departure, Fitzwater said.
