NFL players Joe Morris and Mickey Shuler have filed a $5 million lawsuit against the NFL and commissioner Paul Tagliabue, according to a published report.

The suit accuses the NFL and the players' former teams - the New York Giants and Jets - of breaching contract provisions that required payment of 10 percent of the year's total salary during the preseason.Morris, who signed with the Cleveland Browns this week, sat out the 1990 season after being released by the Giants.

Morris contends that the Giants paid only $3,209 of the $50,000 they owed him on his $500,000 contract. Shuler claims that the Jets paid only $2,713.25 of the $75,000 they owed him on his $750,000 contract.
