The sheriff's office has confirmed the identity of a man killed in a fiery crash Tuesday as Alan L. McIntire, 24.

McIntire, an Air Force sergeant stationed at Hill Air Force Base and assigned to the 2892nd Distribution Squadron, was killed when his car left the road on U-167 and burst into flames after snapping a power pole. He was burned beyond recognition and was identified only after investigation by the state medical examiner's office.The westbound compact car he was driving was believed to have been traveling in excess of 80 mph when it left the road.
