A 15-year-old girl was treated for hyperventilation at a local hospital Wednesday night after attending a concert and dance at 49th Street Galleria.

The girl had a difficult time breathing because "the crowd was pushing together," a Cottonwood Hospital nursing supervisor said.About 1,700 people attended the concert dance sponsored by KZHT Hot 94.9 radio station.

Murray fire officials said the girl was taken to the hospital by an ambulance.

Officials at 49th Street Galleria "took a lot of precautions" to ensure that no one was injured during the concert and dance, assistant general manager Rob Edwards said.

"We didn't want another Salt Palace scene here," he said, referring to fans who crowded a stage during a rock concert Jan. 18. Three teenagers died from injuries suffered at the Salt Palace concert.

Edwards said four emergency personnel from Murray Fire Department and four members of the Murray Police gang unit attended the concert and dance.

He said he wasn't aware that anyone was hospitalized.
