Two Brigham Young University football players were booked into jail Wednesday for investigation of felony theft charges.

Kevin Nicholl, 22, and Karlos Rhodes, 19, were booked into Salt Lake County Jail about 5 p.m. after surrendering to Murray police detectives. The pair was arrested by officers Tuesday after a woman called 911 to report that two men - whom she suspected of stealing her VCR and jewelry - were at her front door.

When officers arrived at the woman's apartment, the men were gone. Police searched the area and found two men in a truck at a parking lot nearby, Sgt. Gerry Christensen said.

Officers recovered a VCR and several pieces of jewelry worth $450 from the truck, he said.

The woman reported to police Saturday that she noticed the VCR and jewelry were missing after two men left her apartment earlier that day.

The men told the woman their names were Andre Ware and Brian Blades - both are pro football players with the NFL's Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks, respectively - when they visited her apartment, according to Christensen.

Nicholl and Rhodes agreed to surrender after detectives contacted Provo police.

"Detective Mark Mehrer made arrangements with (Nicholl and Rhodes) so they could do it after they talked with their coaches and other people," Christensen said.

The players spent Wednesday night in jail. Both are living in Provo. Nicholl came to BYU from Mesa, Ariz., and Rhodes is from Fort Walton, Fla.
