The Houston Oilers Thursday announced they will not offer a contract to Patrick Allen, meaning the veteran cornerback is now a free agent.

Allen has been in the NFL seven seasons, all with the Oilers. He has played in 106 games, with 72 starts, has 270 tackles and 7 interceptions. The former USU football player missed training camp each of the past two seasons in contract disputes. He did play in all 16 games in 1990, but had no starts. He finished with 17 tackles and 1 interception.

Allen's contract expired Feb. 1, and he was left unprotected in Plan B, but did not sign with any team.
