The Orem City Recycling Commission has opened three centers for recycling in Orem.

The centers consist of three large semitrailer trucks located at Orem High School, Smiths's Foods and Hillcrest Elementary School. The trailers are all operated by volunteer groups with proceeds going to the volunteer groups and to the recycling effort for education and other support.Each trailer is compartmentalized and will take: bottles and jars in all colors; plastic milk, detergent and shampoo cartons (all bottles and cartons must be rinsed clean and lids discarded); most types of paper with the paper being separated into newspaper, white paper, computer and magazine stacks; aluminum cans.

Opening hours and locations of the trailers are:

- Orem High School, 400 E. 300 South, is operated by Orem High students and open Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.

- Smith's Foods, Center and State street, is operated by the Golden Kiwanis and is open Tuesday and Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m.

- Hillcrest Elementary School, 1651 E. 1400 South, is operated by the PTA and is open Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
